ABOUT YOUR LOCAL SCHOOL BOARD...

Were you aware of the following ways you've been marginalized as a parent?  Your school administrator pretty well runs the show at your school.  The school board is pretty much unnecessary.  It's nothing more than a rubber stamp to legitimize what the administrator and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (aka DESE)  wants to indoctrinate your children with.

School board members are told by the Missouri School Boards Association (which is the only entity authorized by the state of Missouri to do the 16-hour training of school board members required by Missouri law) that the school administrator "is the professional, and you should let him/her take the lead and GUIDE you (the school board member) through the complexities of education (read that, let them lead you into the weeds so you can't figure out what's really going on).  And once you drop your children or grandchildren off at the school, they no LONGER are YOUR children or grandchildren...they belong to the STATE until the state (maybe) gives them BACK to you (sometimes they keep them!  Watch this video and be concerned!  < McKinney-Vento Act > Soon there will be one of these "counselor" types in EVERY Missouri school!)

Guess what else?  Whenever there is a school board race (which is EVERY year in April), if you don't know any better, YOU, the PARENT, don't get to vote on the incumbent school board members.  WHY? you ask.  Because if there are NO CHALLENGERS, the names of the people running for re-election don't even have to appear on your ballot!  Isn't THAT convenient?  In our estimation, every one of the 567 school districts' school board elections should have AT LEAST one challenger so that all names have to appear on the local ballot!  Note:  that 567 school districts number is from DESE, but they do not say how many of that number might be charter schools--charter schools don't have school boards, because they are run BY CORPORATIONS!  Parents can NEVER have a say about what goes on within a charter school.  All they can do is take their kids OUT of that charter school.  Just remember that when you hear talk about charter schools and how great they would be...
